Android Email Setup
The exact steps for setting up Email on an Android device can vary, as most manufacturers have their own email app. You can also add the account in the Gmail app. Whatever app you are using though, the details will be the same… just the steps may be slightly different.
Server/Account Details
The server and account details are the same regardless of the app you are adding the account to:
- Mail Account type: IMAP – some apps ask you to specify account type
- Incoming Mailserver: imap.stackmail.com on port 993 with SSL (143 without)
- Outgoing Mailserver: smtp.stackmail.com on port 465 with SSL (25 without)
- Email address or Username: This should be entered as the full email address
- Password: as provided (same password is used for incoming and outgoing)
Adding to the Gmail App
Almost all Android phones have the Gmail app on them, and other accounts can be checked via this app.
- Open the mail application on your Android device.
- Select Add New Account and enter the mailbox name and it’s password.
- Select Manual Setup and select IMAP Account.
- The User name will need to be the same as the mailbox name.
- Enter imap.stackmail.com as the IMAP Server, change the Security Type to SSL, Port 993 should then be used.
- Enter smtp.stackmail.com as the SMTP Server, change the Security Type to SSL, Port 465 should be added.
- The outoing mailserver username and password are the username and password for your mailbox.
- Select Sign In and the mailbox will be added to your Android.
